Geospatial computing, user studies, continuity planning, workforce development, and vintage tech.

I sit between ideas, products, and disciplines to find an answer that most would not.
I often wake up, regardless of day, hoping for a beautifully quiet amount of snow to be on the ground. Much like that eternal hope, I remain hopeful that at some point in my life that the world will stop fracturing and begin to heal.

i've flipped from doing research to wanting to build technologies, make them better.

It fits with some frustration lately as I find myself wanting to teach toward independence in design industries rather than how to fit into them due to downturns

Might be time to think about a career shift.

This is sort of a function of my dissertation defense where Jack Carroll said to me that i'll fit in in academia because I like to have my head in the clouds.

He wasn't wrong but I started to get frustrated by crisis informatics and its lack of grounding.

Spent so long in #emergencymanagement.

I didn’t think High Fidelity could have a sequel but I’m witnessing one manifest right now.

In automating social science and creating socio-technical systems, we ended up cleaning the data so much that the socio- disappeared.

It's still there but no one remembers the variable names.

I’ve had to stop working with a few folks that use it to make everything grammatically correct. So bland.

Alternatively, I’ve stopped sending review requests to people using AI and TurnItIn to do their reviews.

Miss when we had to send out 3 paper copies to reviewers by mail and ask for red pens.

Throw em off, dress up as the video game design software and ask them what they thought you meant.

I went on a 5 year hunt that ended last year for a toy my grandma bought for me because M.A.S.K. Wasn’t in stock anymore.

This little yellow cube guy was a friend to all my M.A.S.K. toys.
