Been taking the Holland Assessments. It's interesting to see Social as my lowest potential major space given that i've got a BS and MA in Sociology.
I suppose at this point it's less about what i'd like to do and is instead about what i've enjoyed doing.
Somehow i've flipped to doer over thinker.

Picked these two #dnd products tonight. It’s neat to see Hobbits still a playable race. Curious how the reprint in 79 of Wizard’s Aide didnt shift it.
These have me thinking about #wargames and “regional dialects” of wargaming. Strategos and Stratagos N, Kriegspiel, all the variants.

Went to the grocery store early for essentials and I come out to a dude in a neon lime green jumpsuit and bright orange crocs blasting Wild Wild West while smoking the dankest weed.

In my life, I never expected a character better than Samwise Gamgee but Kuma just comes running out of no where and teleports me to safety.

Been working through a whole host of questions about #wargames lately. One I find myself on at the moment is "mixed media" or even XR #wargames.
Are there any out there?
My goto example would be Golem Arcana but it was not successful.
Also asked on LinkedIn.

I have been finding myself thinking about VCR mediated boardgames, dvd games, and other forms of mixed media boardgames.
So like Atmosfear, Nightmare, Star Trek, Tales of the Crystals, Captain Power...

For you #wargames folks, I was wondering about a game that sits between professional and commercial.
Accessible but educational.
I keep looking at Source of the Nile for some reason but that’s too far into weird commercial land.

So Kristen recently finished her first ultra marathon. 50 miles around Canandaigua Lake.
It was absolutely inspiring to see her really run through the buildup of trauma over the last 3 years of us being in Rochester.
Transformative.

When we write papers in academia, they should answer a question we have about the world, not just be a paper to build our career.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

@stevejacksongames.bsky.social I ran an assignment in a game design and development intro course called, "Design an expansion for FRAG."
Some of these ideas are top notch! Proud of my students.
Thought you might enjoy knowing you're helping students bridge the tabletop/digital divide well.

When what a person says and what a person believes that person meant is in disagreement, some believe the fault is the listeners. Then power gets in the way of negotiation.
I think a lot about Alphonso Lingis during these times.
That design and communication share this issue is a feature.

On the one hand, re-establishing modernity in the midst of disaster is seen as heroic and wanted.
On the other, it is a prison we must learn to escape when disaster allows us to see outside of culture.
