The BBC’s core problem is that, like the NHS, it models the benefits and virtues of a not-for-profit public service in a world of rapacious corporate greed and unstinting right-wing hostility to the idea of the public good www.nytimes.com/2025/11/10/w...
Why the BBC Is Facing Its Gravest Crisis in Decades

Trump is incredibly unpopular here! including amongst Tory voters. What are they doing?
Conservative Shadow Culture Secretary Nigel Huddleston tells GB News that the BBC should "grovel" to Trump.
Amazing how many British 'patriots' are spending their time telling our national broadcaster to prostrate itself before a hostile foreign leader

The BBC is in crisis in the same way that GB News would be if you put Owen Jones on the board armed with a veto and plenty of coffee.

Oh look. There really are "no go areas" in England.
And they're marked by St George's flags

The "appropriate response" is to broadcast everything that Trump did and said on that appalling day for American democracy and then to tell this moron to sling his hook.
I might be wrong, but this stinks of Pharage involvement.

What you’re witnessing is a populist assault on the BBC.
This is not an institutional scandal in any meaningful sense of the word. It is an attack on public service broadcasting.

Should Gibb be sacked? yes, obviously. He's an abomination of basic journalistic standards. His GB News channel spreads conspiracy theory & disinformation. His Jewish Chronicle newspaper spreads invented stories. He is plainly trying to undermine the BBC so it's as bad as everything else he touches.

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

No. No. A thousand times no. We honour the memory of the dead

This is in such incredibly bad taste.
Yes, Nigel Farage made an actual promo video of his poppy performance in Walton-on-the-Naze today.

What is the problem with the white poppy? I just wish they were more readily available.
If they only knew how to zoom in, they might just be able to make out the red poppy too....

We all value ‘the rule of law’.
But whose law & rules? Corporations/Rich v Masses.
The law is being used to enforce existing power structures for the benefit of the few.
A few crumbs are thrown to pacify the masses but these are concessions and can be withdrawn.
See the linked article.

The Labour government should be following in great detail what is happening at Kent County council.
Use it relentlessly at the local and general election.
It’s is an absolute shambles.
I cannot do it justice.

Why? Obviously she has blocked out at least the last 8 years. I don't think anyone can take on a new job and fully understand what is in place and the issues that will alter the plans. Does she not remember that note the tories refered to for 14 years? How many of their promises happened?

Just to say, yes, we should keep away from Musk/X/Twitter as much as possible, but also not kid ourselves that Facebook/Instagram etc aren’t part of the same malignant ecosystem.

Since 2000, the richest 1% of the world's population has taken 41% of new wealth, the poorest half has received only 1%.
Rich buy political parties, media, means of production, cause corruption, climate crisis, make mockery of democracy. Poor die early.
Must redistribute or risk social disorder.

Bet they’ll say “it’s unpatriotic and unchristian to remove our flags and put up Xmas decorations”🙄
