I would be curious what it means for homeowners, though. Here in Mpls, our tax bills are rising higher than the levy increase because of commercial base collapse.

In the exurbs, there's still expansion of the tax base going on. So a 10% levy increase might not be as bad as it would be here.

I didn't find anything in court documents, but I have a guess. Usually that type of renovation is split between the landlord and tenant, and I can't imagine the landlords or the bank were interested in pumping more money into the property.

According to the sale offering from August 2024, Landmark signed a lease that doesn't expire until Feb 2034.

So whoever buys the building inherits that lease.

A big risk indeed, since he personally guaranteed the loans.

Office leasing in Uptown had never been proven, so he needed a lot of stars to align. The stars did the opposite.

I'm not sure who runs it, but it's this cage right here on 5th Street. I noticed it when biking to a Vikings game in Sept.

I don't typically have issues finding a place to lock up, but it would be nice to have more of the secure bike storage area for public use like Metro Transit has in one of the ABC ramps and, I think, over by US Bank Stadium.

The staff memo does outline a way for the City Council to approve the addition, with stipulations.
