One of my resolutions for the new year is to try and pay closer attention to the nature and turning of the seasons around me 🌿 It is so easy to let nearby nature, and the magic how it changes through the year, pass us by. I also want to get to know my adpoted home of Norway better 🇳🇴

in case you're wondering, "what's the harm in claiming an extinct species has been brought back from the dead" when it most certainly has not, our interior secretary is already using it to justify taking animals off the endangered species list

Nature is not a blocker to growth.

The UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves has claimed that 'The balance has gone too far in the direction of always protecting every bat and every newt.' But how can this statement be true when the UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world?🌍

Week 2 - January 6th-12th.

It is a week of textures and silhouettes rather than movement. Nature presents itself in monotones

Week 1 - January 1st-5th

2025 arrived girdled in cold, stilled by ice and quietened by snow. The cold can be absolutely brutal, with temperatures regularly dropping below -10, finding gaps in even the best fitting clothes.

Deep sea mining plans blocked in Norway 🇳🇴🚫

Environmental groups described the news as a “historic win” for ocean protection.

Oslo had planned to let companies apply to mine 280,000 sq km (108,000 sq miles) of its waters, an area greater than the UK, for deep-sea minerals.

I’ve never liked the phrase, “follow the science”, and I say that as a scientist. Science must inform what we do, but it’s not a replacement for morals. We lead with our commitments to humanity and nature and justice, and we use our science as a tool along the way. 🧪
