Great thread packed with facts about Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Language is so important in our lives, but for the 1 in 14 people with #DevLangDis it's a daily challenge that is often unseen by others. #SLPeeps #SLP2B
#DLDday is coming, so I’m starting a thread over a few days.

DLD (Developmental Language Disorder) is all about spoken language. Words and sentences are tricky for people with DLD. And people don’t grow out of it.

This is a really important point about language. Whilst early intervention is critical, it is not sufficient for those with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). They need access to support over longer time frames. #DevLangDis
“Even excellent early intervention may not sustain adolescents with DLD as language requirements in academic learning increase.” Barbara Ehren #IALP2025

Love this paper! Digital tech, including social media, can be so important in supporting the social connections of people with a communication disability.
Understanding how people with aphasia use information and communication technology (e.g., smartphones, social media platforms) to stay connected is critical to developing components of clinical interventions focused on social relationships.
