I am truly shocked to not find more thinkpieces on the incredible graphic design and typography of Zohran Mamdani’s campaign but maybe that’s because searching on the internet is garbage now.

Very interesting perspective! I often have the opposite thought: "Experimenting like a modeller"
Perhaps the two could co-exist for better workflows. Extensive exploration on simulated data should be the norm before running experiments to make sure the design is capable of the intended inference.

Very good advice below. So much COVID nonsense (e.g. 'immunological dark matter') basically came down to a non-identifiable model that hadn't been properly tested.

Cool to see this state-level design system tracker by @beeckcenter.bsky.social. Contrary to the beliefs of some—design is so much more than branding and beauty. And it looks like at least MD and NJ are using USWDS as a base (and maybe soon CO).

Kinkai Yusen Co., Ltd is a shipping company that began operations in 1923. This is a pennant from the Kinkai Yusen car ferry "Mashu".
Length 81cm (31.8in). This pennant was produced around the 1970s. #vintage
1. The pennant of the Kinkai Yusen ferry "Mashu". A photograph is printed on paper with a dark gray hairline pattern. It is decorated with a yellow fringe. The "Mashu" operated on the route connecting Tokyo and Kushiro City, Hokkaido from 1973 to 1976. 2. The photograph depicts the large ferry "Mashu" sailing the sea. 3. Enlarged photograph. The "Mashu" was a large ferry capable of carrying 95 trucks, 80 passenger cars, and 452 passengers. This photograph, taken from a diagonal front, overhead angle, clearly shows its wide, practical hull design. The caption is in Japanese, Kanji characters: "Kinkai Yusen" (white). 4. All titles and captions are in Japanese. The central title reads "Mashu" (red). The subtitle is "Boarding Commemoration" (white). The programmers of the Donkey Kong arcade left a message in the code to hackers mockingly congratulating them and offering to teach them as a joke. A group of bootleggers actually took this seriously and contacted the company asking for help pirating their own game.
Hirohisa Komanome, programmer at Ikegami Tsushinki, who were contracted to make the Donkey Kong arcade: Once we received a telex from an overseas company inquiring about the program of Donkey Kong. [...] I remember that it was a request to modify the program, to change Donkey Kong to their company's brand. It was easy to disassemble program ROMs and dump them in ASCII code with the development tools available then. Knowing that the bootleggers would begin their analysis of the hardware by disassembling and dumping the code, we inserted the following message at the end of the program as a joke: CONGRATULATION ! IF YOU ANALYSE DIFFICULT THIS PROGRAM,WE WOULD TEACH YOU.***** TEL.TOKYO-JAPAN 044(244)2151 EXTENTION 304 SYSTEM DESIGN IKEGAMI CO. LIM.
