RADLD is a group of volunteers coordinated by an international committee of speech language pathologists with an aim to raise awareness of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), a persistent difficulty in learning, speaking and understanding language.
Because many people think that DLD is something people grow out of adults with DLD (Developmental Language Disorder) go unseen.
We are here to amplify their voices!

🧵The problem with removing labels (in any context), is that as soon as they go, there is no common language amongst professionals, across schools and other agencies.

Everyone starts talking at cross purposes and misunderstanding each other. Everything becomes muddled and confused.

🚨 Invitation to tender!

The EEF is funding a review of how early years educators support children’s language and communication.

We’d love to hear from research teams with experience in using mixed-methods or qualitative approaches.

Just posting because everyone needs to see a walking moai. 😝
📰 Experimental archaeology confirms the theory that Rapa Nui (Easter Island)'s moai could have been 'walked' using ropes and as few as 15 people!

You can't see DLD, and so many people's needs are missed. They go through life struggling, never knowing that there is a reason why things are so hard for them.

DLD is different in each child, but looking back many parents remember a time that their child's language stood out, like Nichole here who noticed her child struggling with literacy and spoken sentences.
This example is of a child, but it affects adults too.

You can't see DLD (Developmental Language Disorder ) so what does it look like in the classroom?
DLD can look like ADHD but you'll also notice that children with DLD have difficulty using words and sentences and understanding, even when they are focussed.
