Irish general election and now the failed Korean coup have shown that Bsky is now a viable real-time breaking news source. Really don't think that was the case even a couple of months ago.

Sorry, but lowering the draft age to 18 for the sake of getting more manpower while partners still spend months and years weighing the risks of escalation with every single weapon and equipment type that Ukraine begs for does not seem to look like a good long-term strategy.

5 years ago today Hong Kongers got their last chance to truely show how they felt at the ballot box in the district council (local) elections.

The pan dems swept the elections. The turn out was the highest it had ever been by alot.

Many of those they elected are now in jail or exile.
The below is the electoral results map of the HK district council elections in November 2019 - yellow is pan-Dems, red is pro-Beijing. Turnout was 70%+.

“In 2022, YouGov asked “What percentage of Americans do you think are ___?”

The results were hilarious.

Trans: 21%
Muslim: 27%
Jewish: 30%
Black: 41%
Live in NYC: 30%
Gay or lesbian: 30%

The errors are off by orders of magnitude. The trans estimation by 2,000%.”

It makes the absolutely classic error I talk about in my book of thinking the way to deal with the frustrations of a highly centralised state is just centralise a bit more. To people who are already overwhelmed.
