Yes, almost always

YouTube TV is always throwing Fox News recommendations my way, despite me almost never viewing it. Then again, I wonder if their algorithm just looks at my loyal BBC News viewership as “this guy likes news, here’s some more!”

Impatient, with their athletic director

And yeah after -30°, suddenly 30 on the plus side feels outright balmy! For the dogs and the people! But at least I can take my coat off when I’m getting too warm

It’s kind of a paradox for me. If the race just ceased to exist, we wouldn’t see the occasional dog death that happens, but the dogs as a whole would also cease to exist. With no mushing races the whole dog racing economy would fall apart & the entire population would go away.

Many of us worry there will be added physical stress on the dogs because they’ll be overheating. Hopefully that’s not the case but if it happens this year, the high temps would be the reason.

A friend of mine had a falling out with his boss and quit racing as a result of his concerns over how hard that guy was pushing them.

What a lot of us worry about this year is that starting tomorrow we’re going to have several days in a row of 32°F. This is too warm for these dogs

Now for the negative- the last several years, maybe 10 or so, it has gotten a little more competitive and some of the mushers out there are beginning to push their dogs too hard, so I don’t feel comfortable defending all of them, just the ones I know.

PETA loves to fundraise off this event, which is why so much of the negative is out there. But so many of these dogs live better and eat better than most pets. And watching them race they just look so happy! Especially at the start.

Meaning the musher often spends then entire 2-3 weeks with very little to no sleep.
Regarding dog deaths, yes, it happens, but you’re talking about 200-300 dogs over almost a month. Compared to any other sample size that large anywhere on earth, there’s typically less deaths
