The burden of cold and ever-recurring existence weighed down his spirit.
Here he was again.
Reinsve and Skarsgard are of course excellent, and this is a breakout 'proper' film debut for Elle Fanning as an adult, she does well. I was also very impressed by Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas who plays the other sister.

(This is the same thing as Past Lives where all the reviews were like 'YOU WILL WEEP' and then when I saw it I was moved to mild tears once, either I'm unemotional or other people are hyperbolic and I think it's the latter)

It's also crucially very funny, more tears of laughter than sadness here.

'Sentimental Value' is another excellent film from Joachim Trier. If like me you could watch Renate Reinsve walking the streets of Oslo being sad and beautiful forever, this delivers more of that, but also some powerful family drama. It wasn't fully emotional devastating but it made me reflect a lot

Anyway Robbie Gibb is one of the worst cunts in the country and I wish him nothing but the worst.

I will miss the Elis & John depiction of him as an ice lolly addicted maniac.

The casting is all spot on, the guy playing Belmondo looks just like him and Zoey Deutch is very good as Jean Seberg, great to see her work with Linklater again after Everybody Wants Some!!

'Nouvelle Vague' is the second Linklater of the Fest and I think I liked this one slightly more. I'd be interested in hearing how it works for someone who hasn't seen Breathless and knows even less about the French New Wave than I do but for me this works as a very stylish evocation of that era.

'Die My Love' was not quite as terrifying as I thought it would be, but it's still very good, Jennifer Lawrence is as brilliant as everyone says and Pattinson not far behind. Some shocking moments but overall more ambiguous than expected, whether that's for the better is debatable.

God advertising is in a bleak place isn't it.

Uber Eats basically telling people to give up on human connection and be selfish.
