Bluesky account for the toxic and explosive (but insensitive and amphoteric) salt formed by combining Ammonia and Hydrazoic Acid.

Urbanists and YIMBYs might seem similar, but they're easy to tell apart. If a person loves their city despite its faults, they're probably an urbanist. If they complain bitterly even when they get what they want, they're a YIMBY.

Strange as it sounds, I think many people find a perverse comfort in the idea that the worst possible climate change outcome is not only possible but inevitable. If you believe we’re past the point where any action matters, you don’t have to actually do anything about it.

the real move if you want to be the presidential nominee in 2028 is to come out and say who did the vote swapping, air the dirty laundry, and say “our voters deserve better” imo. position yourself as the champion of the dem base against the crooked leadership they hate

Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

Senate minority leader Bernie Sanders sounds crazy at first but when you really think about it, why not? It's the hardest, cleanest break you could have with the status quo, he's popular, knows the job, and is pretty effective.

the “axios is fake news trying to stir shit, dems aren’t gonna cave” to “the dem deal is actually good and smart and savvy” pipeline is real and best explained not be rational trains of thought but fear and cognitive dissonance

it’s important to understand that Nate Silver’s entire consciousness is filtered through the lens of being a gross nerd his entire life. the opportunity to feel like he’s one of the cool kids is something he can’t pass up, it’s load-bearing for his dork psyche.

This morning, I was hit in the face by a baton.

I’m going to have a pretty gnarly bruise but we need to remember why this is happening: Trump and ICE are rounding up our neighbors, treating them as subhuman, and shipping them off to labor camps in foreign countries. It has to end.

Freudian psychoanalysis was scientifically dominant until it was replaced with empirical study of human behavior.

Those "empirical" studies are now also viewed as junk science in the wake of the replication crisis.

Where does that leave us?

While the idea that gender identity and sexual orientation are purely learned is no longer widely believed, I was surprised to see sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation described exactly how we describe them today in this passage of a book (The Gay World by Martin Hoffman) written in 1968.

Police officers who publicly declare that they’ll quit if a mayoral candidate they dislike wins the election are (1) usually bluffing—sure buddy, toss away that paycheck and pension—and (2) exactly the sort of cops cities would be better off without, ones who don’t see themselves as public servants.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?

Learn from recent history: Democrats win when they're popular with the left and the center, not when they knife the one to pursue the other
"Movements that abandon core supporters in pursuit of mythical moderate voters often end up with neither. Energy drains away, activists stay home, and the authentic moral voice gets replaced by calculated positioning that convinces no one." data4democracy.substack.com/p/you-cant-e...

We should heed Ta-Nehisi Coates' warning: "I'm all for bridging gaps, but not at the expense of my neighbor's humanity."

If I understand Ezra Klein's position it's that 35% of the country supports full on fascism and it's totally unacceptable for the other side to be upset about that or even say it out loud.
