It's time for a re-introduction! I'm a mixed-methods researcher (Qual leaning) exploring the intersection of disaster governance, NGOs, & political legitimacy. I bake celiac friendly bread, love history, and write. Looking for a new role in the EU, based in the Netherlands. #academicsky #jobhunt

Women deserve to study and work in safe places. Period.

Let's hope that men in academia start doing more to make this a reality, structurally

It's not enough to refrain from personally harassing; we need to change the norms

Be an anti-harasser, visibly, not simply a non-harasser

This is such an important initiative from @wearehighered.bsky.social and a great way to stand together and support one another, higher ed. #academicsky @standhighered.bsky.social
Tell @wearehighered.bsky.social about what's happening on YOUR campus with the attacks on higher ed.

We hear a lot about the elite campuses but what about the rest?

And we hear when schools do egregious things, but not so much about where things are better.

Fewer International Students Came to the U.S. This Fall

Nearly a year into the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigration and visas, data reveals that new international student enrollment is down 17 percent since last fall. https://bit.ly/3JCkG16

So I've been sharing stories with my dutch colleagues about this, starting with a colleague who was placed on a watch list maintained at the Governors office in Florida. I also have new data from a survey expressing self censorship, fear, and reprisals abound #edusky #academicsky
Indiana University, which has now been subordinated to the direct control of the Indiana GOP, announces that criticism of the MAGA movement and doctrines of the GOP is forbidden. An instructor is dismissed for speaking critical words about the MAGA movement.

I need to "talk" to my async class about GenAI and source fabrication. I did not have this problem in an in person class. Not sure how to approach but out of 40, 15 used it to generate content, 3 entire submissions. Padlet, essays, recorded videos, and slides decks. Any advice? #edusky #academicsky

Happy to share a new post at lecternmedia.org that engages different thinkers to discuss neoliberalism and convey my thoughts on it's outcomes. Dropping on November 10th. #edusky #academicsky

Surviving injury just got more expensive in my old home:

AMR [ambulance company] will charge $2,475.13 for advanced life support. For basic life support will increase from $1,641.19 to $2,084.31.

The new contract also includes an increase in mileage rates from $31.18 per mile to $39.59 per mile

Today is finishing up projects. I have a paper near a final draft targeting disaster journals, a web scrap of NGO funding announcements, and outreach for partnerships for grants to followup. But first the gym. No more knee pain after a year of consistent work &professional help #academicsky #edusky
