Is "aesthetics" just a pretext for excluding lower-income residents? We tested this by comparing support for apartments vs. similarly sized office buildings. If it was about residents, people should prefer offices. But they oppose offices even more. Physical structure matters.

That's kind of why the industry doesn't want this to be mandatory. So there's extra margin to be made. The same way why they dragged out mandatory backup cameras. The law was passed in 2007. The requirement finally became mandatory in May 2018!

I'll concede on the backseat monitor... but not on the backup camera. I've seen too many people crash into other cars in parking lots in my lifetime pre-backup camera. We don't need more auto insurance premium hikes!
