To be fair, I zoomed into Silicon Valley. If you zoom out to the entire 101 cities of the SF Bay Area, it gets a little bit more interesting. But still not nearly as interesting as LA

"We label jurisdictions like [these dark blue ones] “municipal tax havens” for the way they shield property wealth from taxation."

Are the dark blue areas the ones that you expected based on that description?

Oh wow... those kids stats are pretty terrible for Emeryville

Vance and Mike have some really helpful tips on what to do now that toll lanes are becoming more common on Bay Area Freeways:

Vance: Just set your fastrak to 3. You will never get caught

Mike: Vance Every day!!! 5% tint helps too

Can someone please check ForCalifornians dot com to let me know what will happen if we don't once again allow people to pay the same *property taxes* for all the houses, apartment buildings, and office buildings they inherit from their parents and grandparents?

4 images that perfectly tell a California story:

A 3 bed 1 bath 988 sqft house sold for $2.8M

In a school district that has to do budget cuts

While trying to help its growing number of homeless students

Meanwhile residents are mad that a Chase will be replaced with 6 stories of apartments

One of my favorite diagrams: spread of norovirus on a plane

Cool. Just what we need. Fewer people washing their hands after using the toilet on a plane. What could go wrong.

This is just great for a nation that's aging:

Ah yes... the problem with flying these days is that pax aren't dressed up enough, and not... say... the attrocities the airlines have done to cram as many people possible onto a plane

I haven't been following this situation in Santa Clara closely, but...

1. It's hilarious that the guy who lost the election is trying to recall the guy who won the election so that he can have a do-over

2. The capitalization pattern in this graphic requires a Prop 65 warning

Just read this story about what some people have to do today to fly because of the inaccessible lavatories:

www.afar.com/magazine/u-s...
November 23, 2025 at 4:36 AM
3. Half of the lavatories must be ADA compliant. The other half must have some minimum size.

This is ridiculous:

Oh no! Someone's trying to cross the streams by bridging the Everything App into Your Helpful Neighborhood App!

But in all seriousness... what's the real deal with this Rob Bonta situation? Or is this one of those "no one really knows right now so everyone is just doing clickbait" situations?

People frequently forget that the San Francisco Bay Area includes 9 counties and 101 cities. census.bayareametro.gov

"We don’t have a housing crisis. We have an affordability crisis. They will want $4000 for a studio or small one bedroom. We have plenty of housing in the Bay Area"

Gary. Your screenshot shows 28,768 available apartments. The Bay Area has 7,765,640 people. That ratio is why housing is unaffordable!

Honestly this post made me gag more than Part 2. I love how there’s not even an attempt to bridge the two highlighted parts
November 22, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Huh. No California governors have been elected into office while living in core Silicon Valley or its northern neighbor.

This seems like a situation that needs correcting!!

TIL Mamdani is the first mayor from Queens. Interesting bit of trivia
