If you missed it earlier, we settled on Czech as our final language. The Lithuanian translator is doing this one too, so we may need some native speakers to double check that it sounds natural.

Copyright is a law that binds artists but does not protect them and protects corporations but does not bind them.

It shouldn't be this difficult to preserve old games. Also, I'm not a lawyer or an expert on intellectual property, but I feel like something is broken if the public can lose access to a game because the IP holder isn't interested in ever doing anything with it, or doesn't even realize they own it.

Doing casual research trying to look up stuff about game history will continuously have you utterly speechless at the sorry state of preservation.
Like, what the fuck do you mean there's no readily available scan of Famitsu's first 40/40 cross review of Ocarina of Time?

@jvl.bsky.social with the perfect quote:

"That’s the dual hermeneutic the populists use for evaluating the world. If you’re an expert who got one thing wrong, it damns you. If you’re a total lunatic crank who gets one thing right, it makes makes you bulletproof."
Why is it that elites are held to a standard of perfection at all times, and populists are held to no standard at all?

I've been saying for years now that the GOP considers any attempt to correct their lies as "censorship" and eventually it would lead to this.

More speech is now called censorship.

This is by far the most interesting GOTY list I've seen this year.

I don't care if a random group of people think famous game A is better than famous game B, I want to see cool obscure stuff. And this has TONS of them!

I would never have found "Gnomes and Knights" or "Liminal Void" otherwise.

New from me on what the rage and glee on public display after the killing of a healthcare CEO portends.

I suspect the corporate world will respond with more security and retreating even more into their gated lives.

They would be advised to read up on history.
