Not sure which photos you saw but this section of the 5 has nothing but Marine base on either side, just military facilities, scrub brush, and a nuclear power plant, but they've avoided shelling that for decades at this point.

Reminds me of the time I spent a couple hours jailbreaking my old kindle just so I could replace the off screen (mine said "DON'T PANIC" in large, friendly letters,) the once I turned off airplane mode and it got an automatic update and cleared my jailbreak and off screen.
