My third core device doesn't even have wifi.

For reasons (none good) I rather like dual socket motherboards in a standard ATX footprint, but this Supermicro X9DRL fits a 32 bit PCI slot, which really crosses my streams, as it were.

If you think this looks crowded you should see the LGA3647 version, the X11DPL, I have two, for reasons (ish.)

I remembered what I printed in PET-CF: wall hangers for my angle grinders.

While this definitely seems like the right use for such filament, my prototype in basic PETG was plenty strong, so I guess I need to start designing with less material to use the PET-CF strength appropriately.

One of my pre-tariff purchases, I finally gave up finding a rotary broaching tool made in the US for a sensible price and ordered one from China.

Will take some experimentation to get a little more engagement with a hex key, but it's already so much better than cutting a slot drive in screw heads.

Did you convert that carbide tool holder into dovetail yourself? I have several more to do once I get some kind of mill running, hopefully the new lightweight horizontal machine can handle it once I figure out how to make it work right.

I've just replaced my Prusa Mini with the new Core One, which makes it finally not-inconvenient to place the Mini inside the print volume of my Prusa XL for a picture.

The Mini is a pretty good companion to the XL for quickly printing smaller parts, but I expect the Core One will be even better.

I recently cleaned up most of my downloaded memes, good thing I kept this one.

My lathe is further from my big toolboxes than it was in my old shop so I decided I needed some more handy storage for cutting tools. These hardware-store-style Durham steel drawer boxes fit nicely and will hold so many tools.

One day I will build a new stand around the drawers.

I got the lathe set up enough to cut, first project was to modify an adjustable handle to replace the broken one that holds my drill press table.

3D printing is pretty cool and all, but I'm quite happy I can just go mutilate steel on a whim again.

Still lots to do to make the lathe run properly.

It's been too many years since I moved to a smaller workshop space, but I finally unpacked, cleaned, organized, and prioritized enough to get my metal lathe back on its stands and nearly ready to use.

Now I just need to shift it a few feet and find all the parts and tools that are still packed.

Ever need to tap oversize threads but the proper tool wouldn't arrive in time?

Yeah me either but someone somewhere did and their work ended up in some lot of used taps, then in a toolbox I just found while searching for something unrelated in the garage.

Just when you think you've seen every sort of computer peripheral ever dreamed of ebay can be trusted to surprise you with something entirely unfamiliar and terrifying.

I have no idea what the previous owner of this place did, but for some reason it included burying really old IBM parts in the back yard, they keep floating to the surface when the weather gets muddy enough.

Came across one of the first projects I finished after I bought my lathe a decade ago, an espresso tamper made from 17-4 stainless. It came out pretty nice despite my inexperience turning or grinding HSS tools, but now my espresso maker tamps by itself, so I need to find another use for it.

Yesterday I finally pulled it off, a pecan pie with a perfectly crispy bottom crust. The main challenge was waiting a year between each attempt and not bothering to take any notes for the first several Thanksgivings, so I repeated many mistakes.
