Since the bird site became such a massive clusterf*ck, our primary social media presence has been on Mastodon. It will continue that way, because we really like it over there.

Twenty eight years ago today, Apple released the #MessagePad 2100, the last device created for the Newton platform. It would be discontinued less than four months later, along with all remaining Newton development.

Thirty years ago today, Apple announced an agreement to license its Newton technology to Schlumberger and Digital Ocean. (Not that Digital Ocean, the other one.)

The second of Apple's Newton 'Messagepads', and released in 1994. Boasting a 320x240 screen, 20 MHz ARM processor, an PCMCIA slot for expansions, and 1 MB of static memory. Pretty nifty stuff!

Based on the back and red cover, this version of the MessagePad Handbook shipped with the second edition of the MessagePad 120 (2MB) and corresponds to version 1.3 of Newton OS.
