No, it’s that drivers have never learned how to make space for pedestrians. Most suburban places have only token sidewalks and illogical/unsafe crosswalks. Unless drivers are in a parking lot, they just assume that nobody is walking. (Speaking as a New Yorker after six months in suburban Richmond)
So the US traffic fatality rate per capita is about six times the UK. Most of that is obviously miles driven being much higher and more rural roads. But anecdotally I’ve also noticed that a lot of Americans - especially suburbanites - never seem to have learnt how to cross roads properly.

Leaving aside JKR's transphobia, the Harry Potter series is the most obvious "saying 'Oh that thing's still on?' when you see the trailer for the season three premiere" show imaginable. I just cannot imagine a version of it that doesn't get a big premiere, then collapse dramatically.

More than half of my daily work since 2006 has been helping people fight removal to El Salvador. I am now trying to get my head around a possible future--which seems to be quickly coming into view--in which I will have to retain an attorney for exactly the same purpose
