the tealights i burn in this jar are almost always the white ones which glow under UV
the sand does not glow under UV

i crumbled half of the big lump back into the jar so we'll see what this does if anything
i'm wondering if it's moisture somehow but three tealights should be evaporating any moisture and drying out the immediate area as we've just seen

experiment update: not reproduced with the black sand (yet?) although the effect of drying out the top half is quite clear in the colour

dutch is SO weird to try to learn, like i didn't know what the plural of dag or its pronunciation was (tho could have deduced), i don't know the days of the week or the months or even the numbers off the top of my head

y'know a half-decent ops engineer could look at this picture and conclude with >80% confidence that i'm watching TV
(and that's not even taking into account the fact that if i were, there's a high probability that i'd be streaming *from* Akamai in the first place)

the black sand feels very different to the white or brown, i assume it's volcanic, i think it has a much bigger surface area for the same volume compared to the other two and so possibly can absorb more heat? idk

i open the wikipedia app on my phone instead of googling about 90% of the time and i should default to doing the same on the desktop really
