Watching the news from Syria this week, hopes and anxieties that had been kept frozen for a decade are thawing. I feel like I'm time-traveling, feeling things I had not felt since 2015. Now more than ever, Syria is the true test of people's politics.

I don't know if this is getting attention because ((waves arms)), but Michigan's Regents will consider defunding DEI tomorrow. Unlike the situation in Florida or Texas, this is under a board that is 6-2 Democrats.
