I know one day ai will be less power hungry, ethical, self-hosted, and exciting (actually usable). But holy hell im tired of this iteration being in every article, video, podcast, and dev log

Controlling the narrative is key for industrialists.

"it's inevitable"
"adapt or die"
"it's not tech that's bad, it's the hands that hold it"
"AI isn't bad, it's just a few people using it wrong"
"progress requires some sacrifice (ie brutality)"

All these stories need to be smashed with a hammer.🔨

Looking forward to looking into this
Currently read "A Psalm for the Wild-Built" and I adore it's solarpunk setting so much. It has such deep world-building and every little detail shows it's history with nature and technology in harmony. I wish I could take a walk through both its urban and rural landscapes in real life 💕

How different would things be if I were just encouraged to take care of myself as I was. And embrace healthy habits, and being active, and having fun, and just being a fucking human being, as I was.

Science Vs did a piece on this, and couldnt fathom the idea of changing car culture to reduce collisions with deer (one of the leading downsides to standard time). Most of daylight saving's benefits could still be achieved in a permanent shift to standard with a little bit of change

Scientists say the return to "standard time" is good for our health. But the time change can be disruptive and we must also adjust to more winter darkness. Syncing our habits to our body clock helps. n.pr/49ur1pB

And then all that will remain are big box stores that have been gunning for locally owned shops for years. Consolidating the market even more

If Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits are disrupted, analysts say it could mean more pressure on the already shrinking number of small independent supermarkets.
If SNAP food aid is cut off, small grocery stores also will feel the pain

Keep in mind this enforcement practice will also add commuters as well as nearby households, businesses and pedestrians to the database of "potential suspects". It should be outlawed, but one crises at a time for now
We were just notified that cell-site simulators were used during the No Kings protests in several cities. Fortunately, we planned for this. Portland, Houston, Philadelphia, and Chicago were among the targeted locations. If you’re attending protests, please remember to follow protocol.
