Has anyone else ran into the issue of not understanding how the fuck to call a sound effect to coincide with the individual emission of a particle? For example: I have an explosion here, made up of five individual explosions. Every time it emits, I want to play a sound effect for EVERY EMISSION

And here's how the laser's gonna look, I'm gonna have to figure out shapecast2d nodes, but I should be alright. Once I get that done, we'll be moving on to implementing Mio's orbital units! SUPER excited to get those moving ingame, I feel like they're gonna be super visually interesting.

Started the implementation of the focus-fire laser, and implemented a speed clamp for more fine control! It feels REALLY natural to use already, but I'm gonna tweak it some more to get it perfect.

Been a few days since I've posted anything for my project.. So here's what I've been busy on!

First, we've gone over the bullet cancel system and it's already feeling incredibly satisfying to use. Bullet cancels only happen when the enemy is killed at close range, so get up in their face!

So far, so good! We've got score items for bullet cancels in there, and they slorp in real nice.

And I fixed the enemy's animations so now it idles, hell yeah. Now we're really cookin.

(and yes i listen to shmup soundtracks almost the entire time doing dev work lmao)

It's likely going to be a more complicated way, I'm using it all over all sorts of enemies. For example, here's the enemy type with his animations. Everything the pink color touches should show through to a space background.

@fideldestro.bsky.social Hey there shader wizard!! If I wanted to make a sort of portal effect where a specific mask color on my animated sprites show through the background to a hidden background layer, how would you suggest I do that?
