🚨The SAVE Act has passed the House.🚨

SAVE pretends to create guardrails against noncitizen voter fraud (a vanishingly small problem found in only 0.0001 percent of jurisdictions)—instead disenfranchising millions of people, especially women.

The Christian Nationalist Plot to Disenfranchise Women Voters
The SAVE Act, which purports to fend off the phantasmal threat of voter fraud, would throw millions of women off the voting rolls.

Being able to heat your home in the winter is not a luxury. It is a matter of life and death.

Trump and Musk’s decision to arbitrarily fire every worker in the office that helps working class and low income people heat their homes is outrageous.

🚨UPDATE: Rümeysa Öztürk has now suffered three separate asthma attacks while in DHS custody.

She has not received her required asthma medications—a violation of her fundamental right to medical care.

This is cruelty, it is neglect, and it is a damning moral and legal failure.

Senate Republicans will do anything to give tax handouts to billionaires and billionaire corporations, even using fake math.

Repealing math doesn’t repeal reality.

Here's the truth: Republicans’ tax cuts will cost $7 trillion and cut programs that help working families.

Republicans in the Senate voted tonight while no one is watching to fatten Wall Street profits by jacking up overdraft fees on you.

So much for lowering costs.

I asked an international human rights lawyer recently what red lines to watch for - he said, “when people start to disappear.” Well…https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/26/us/ice-tufts-student-detained-rumeysa-ozturk.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

Let’s be clear: the Dept. of Ed. provides resources to 26 million children living in high-poverty school districts; Pell Grants to over 7 million students; & funding for millions of children with disabilities.

Closing its doors would be a disaster for working class families.

What about this (program to help schools and food banks buy food from local farms and ranches) is not within USDA goals? the part about helping school kids have access to healthy, locally raised food? Or the part about providing a solid financial contract with farms in our country for a good cause?
USDA cuts over $1 billion in funding for schools, local food purchases
The U.S. Agriculture Department has cut two federal programs that spent over $1 billion annually to help schools and food banks buy food from local farms and ranches, according to a school group and a Politico report on Monday.

Rubio terminated 5800 USAID contracts – more than 90% of its foreign aid programs – in defiance of the courts.

Here’s a list of just some of the lifesaving awards that were terminated. Nearly all were Congressionally mandated. They’ve saved millions of lives. 🧵

We have been careful to avoid using the word coup, but it’s time to call it what it is—this is a coup. Trump signed an executive order granting only the attorney general or the president the authority to interpret laws executed by the executive branch.
