If Microsoft is going to pay developers more, they'd probably prefer to pass the bill onto players by raising Game Pass subscription prices. That said, gamers have shown that they're not always willing to pay more, even for a great product. While the Nintendo Switch 2 was able to get away with its high price tag despite backlash, The Outer Worlds 2's $80 price tag proved to be a mistake, and Microsoft ultimately had to drop the cost to $70. A Game Pass price increase is more likely to drive away existing subscribers than bring in new ones. There are plenty of great games on the service, but it loses its value if it's cheaper for gamers to buy everything they want individually. People can only play so many games each month, and gamers have plenty of opportunities to get great games for cheap.

This entire interview is an exercise in frustration. It's non-stop question dodging and DARVOing.
How do you distinguish between sexual content that is exploitative vs. consensual fantasy? Our objection is to content that glorified sexualised violence against women and children. As I reviewed the content tagged with rape and incest on Steam, I didn't come across anything that was intended as consensual violence. But this is a common pornographic trope - that women want or enjoy abuse, when in reality this violence and abuse is deeply harmful. Critics argue this removes agency from women creating or consuming adult content. How do you reconcile protection with freedom of choice? There is no greater removal of a woman's agency than rape. Media that glorifies sexual violence against women harms all women, regardless of whether a few women participate in its creation or consumption.

I read the interview referenced in this article and they outright refuse to specify why the things they describe are different from other kinds of illegal content depicted in games.

So either they know they can't defend it or they're going to eventually expand to other depictions of crimes.
If advocating for the removal of these games is based on the grounds that they are illegal, would you and Collective Shout agree to the removal of games depicting murder, or any other illegal activities? Again, our work focuses on combatting the sexual objectification and exploitation of women and girls, so we focus our energy there. That said, we call out this objectification and abusive depictions of women and girls even where they are not illegal. Legality is not the defining factor, it is about documented evidence of harm to women and girls. We object to content that harms the status of women and girls, that objectifies and dehumanises them, regardless of legal or illegal status. In some cases, of course, the content we object to is illegal - as was the case here. If not, how does Collective Shout distinguish between which crimes are acceptable to include in publicly accessible media, and which aren't? Please refer to previous answers.

I don't love this "price-sensitive" framing, it's not actually informative.

If gamers have money but aren't willing to spend it, that's a different problem than if they don't have money at all and require different solutions.
“It is just not the right climate to increase prices at the moment,” Wooldridge told Polygon over email. She said a number of factors were undermining the viability of price rises. The first and most significant is that, in a tough economic climate, gamers are acutely price-sensitive. And you can tell this by the games people are buying, not just the strength of feeling about price rises online "This year we've seen huge success among indie and AA titles, such as Schedule I, REPO, Peak, Clair Obscur, which tells us that at the moment, gamers are seeking value. Average spend per gamer is down year-on- year," Wooldridge said. All the games she mentioned retail for less than $70, sometimes considerably. It's not a given that players will simply stomach higher prices for their favourite games; they might buy something else - or stop buying games outright.

Mega Victreebel Victreebel is a gen 1 Pokémon that still needs a mega evolution. This underrated Kanto Pokémon deserves a chance to shine It's almost a given that a Gen 1 Pokémon will get a new Mega Evolution at this point. Gen 1 Pokémon like Pidgeot and Beedrill got new forms in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, several of them have Gigantimax forms, and a Kanto Pokémon has received a new regional variant in every game since they were introduced. If any Pokémon are getting new forms added, it will likely be one from the Kanto region, and of the Kanto Pokémon that can be spotted in the Legends: Z-A trailer that don't already Mega Evolve, Weepinbel makes the most sense. Victreebel also has the potential for a very cool and elaborate Mega Evolution. One of the benefits of variants of Gen 1 Pokémon is their designs are no longer limited by Game Boy graphics, so Victreebel could be a glorious mess of vines and toxic fumes.
