Going to a side of Mexico, an airport and hotel I've never been to.

I'm SO thankful for YouTubers who show real walkthroughs!! It's such a huge help.

I'm sorry I've been offline, burnout has been kicking my butt!

If I had 1 euro for every time I heard

“Oh, why can you do THAT, but you can’t do THIS? Sounds fake!”

“Why were you able to do it LAST time but can’t do it THIS time? Sounds fake!”

“Why is THIS so hard for you, but THAT was so easy? FAKER!”

I’d be able to volunteer full time.

Walking through crowds is VERY overstimulating for me. This is our solution.

It's a stretchy tool lanyard, we attach it to my spouse's belt loop. All I have to do is follow it. I can also communicate to him by tugging. It's been a huge help!

It's World Autism Day!

Did you know?

Autism doesn't exist without #autistic people - it's not an independent entity that someone can possess

So if you're talking about autism without talking about, or better still, to, autistic people, you're doing it wrong

I have trouble remembering how many canned drinks I've had. My trick is putting the tabs on a carabinier so I can count anytime.
Plus fun to fiddle with!

On Holland America cruises every day there's a written schedule in your cabin so if you don't like the app you have another option.

Heads up for air travelers out of Canada!!

Weighted blankets are NOT allowed as carry on. Transport Canada says more than a pop cans worth of "non organic" material has to be below.

This is what we bring for our basic travel medications.

It's a fishing tackle box (dollar store!) so it's waterproof with an O-ring, GREAT for humid places. Humidity can seriously damage tablets.

Everything is as easy to read as possible with dosages when applicable.

I saw a video yesterday that talked about the importance of a “low-demand lifestyle” for a lot of autistic people. I’m trying to figure out where I can lower some of the external and internal demands that often weigh me down. I’m open to suggestions. What demands have you been able to drop?

I bring my favorite tea bags whenever I'm away from home. Just add hot water and there's a warm mug of comfort.

What's the most frustrating thing about travel for you?

For me it's the planning... I'm always thankful for my spouse who's great at it!!

Thinking about the "autism tax" we pay when traveling. We use credit cards to get lounge passes. We request early loading on planes. We try and book not busy flights. We pay more to cruise rather than other vacation types.

There are things that are more expensive to avoid overload.

It sucks.

life as an autistic human can be nothing more than crying and wondering why the world is the way it is

pain

it's not always a superpower - it's not usually, even

it's a disability

and there is light, hope, and beauty

The 40 lb problem

I need a weighted blanket to sleep. We had tried a 5 pound blanket that we managed to fit in a suitcase. Not only did it take up most of the room in the suitcase, it wasn't near heavy enough to help me…
