Hard, fast rule from a veteran police reporter: Excepting anyone engaged in infiltrating a criminal conspiracy in an undercover capacity, any law officer who hides his identity from the public is a shitheel is doing vile shit and is, in fact, actively destroying the credibility of law enforcement.

Remember those national guard troops sent to Chicago by Texas Gov Greg Abbott? They went home after sitting at a suburban training facility doing nothing for a month. Abbott's little stunt cost taxpayers at least $12M. What an abuse of power.

Rep. Massie is being polite, as he should be, and is trying to get more Republican votes for the discharge petition, as he should be doing.

But the truth is, I think, that Trump is trying to protect himself.
