This new study is another great example of the impactful, lifesaving work that will occur in our new large animal hospital!

Last night we had the pleasure of awarding the NC State CVM Distinguished Alumni Award to Dr. Cheryl Stroud. Dr. Stroud completed her PhD at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine and went on to be a true trail blazer in One Health- the link between animal, human and environmental health!

A @ncstatevetmed.bsky.social study demonstrated that hospitalized dogs and cats experience sleep disturbances similar to those reported in human ICU patients and supports finding efforts to promote patient sleep in the veterinary intensive care setting.

Cat owners, take note! If you have dogs prescribed chewable Apoquel for allergies, the medicine can result in acute kidney injury in felines that find the pork liver-flavored pills hard to resist. Two cats ingested harmful quantities and needed dialysis at NC State.
