It's about learning to take risks and to fail. It's about the transformation of the self and, subsequently, transformation of the world. It's up to us to figure out how to center these ideals in the classroom, even if it means fundamentally transforming how we do things.

I just *profoundly* object to the framing in that article linked to in the OP: that all the students are doing it and no one cares and it's time to give up because the lazy cheating students don't actually want to learn anything.

And I'm not averse to school phone bans, even though the evidence is mixed. But as many of us warned, these bans are going to give policy makers an "easy win" at the expense of policies and funding with better odds of improving student outcomes.
