We continue to challenge hotels on their policies, and try to keep single supplements as low as possible. We are also delighted to offer a selection of holidays that have some allocated rooms that incur no supplement:

The same is true of cruise ships, which have the same high operational costs regardless of how many people travel, thus making single occupancy of a double/twin cabin expensive.

In some destinations, hotels charge us the same flat room fee, regardless of how many people occupy the room (standard practice in the US and Canada), inevitably resulting in higher costs for travellers wanting single occupancy.

We offer room-share options on all of our holidays, and many single travellers enjoy meeting like-minded singles and buddying up in a room – that’s part of the fun! We do also appreciate some guests would prefer single occupancy accommodation.

We were interested to see this thread on BlueSky. It is the accommodation providers (hotels, lodges, cruise ships) who levy a supplement upon single travellers, not tour operators.
