If you’re feeling hopeless, look at how fascism is hurting people in your community right now, and brainstorm ways to mitigate that harm. Helping one person one time is better than helping no people ever

@transition-network.bsky.social @transitiontog.bsky.social Disabled people are being hard-hit by latest govt cuts. Could there perhaps be a global Transition Towns campaign, encouraging groups to make community allotment fruit/veg boxes to deliver to people in need? Food banks are often inaccessible

It’s National Library Week & here are a few things libraries have available outside of books:

Wifi, computer, & printer access
Musical instruments
Museum passes
Movies
Clubs & classes
Craft & science kits
Gardening tools & free seeds
Games & toys

Just some reasons to support our libraries.

An extraordinary separate dissent from Justice Jackson accuses the majority of trying to pass off its dirty work under the cover of the shadow docket and explicitly invokes Korematsu, the Japanese internment case. Wow. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Can we stop calling these atrocities "deportations." These people sold to El Salvadorian prisons were not deported. Deportation is a process that did not take place. They were rounded up and removed with no process. They were kidnapped, not deported.

My heart is with everyone out protesting today and I am there with you in spirit! I’m so grateful for you and I am so proud of you! I am with you from afar (taking gentle care of my body today.)
Be safe out there and sing and chant and make a little good trouble! May the flowers be with you!🌼💗

Miles over at Mind the Moss put together this nice piece about Pittsburgh's city steps and how I came to be "obsessed" with them. 😂 If you're on Substack and looking for ideas to inspire your walking habit, give him a follow!
Now here's a story I've been looking forward to publishing for quite some time. I wrote about @mis-steps.bsky.social; one of the leading chroniclers of Pittsburgh's incredible steps. There are over 700 stairways nestled in the city hills. An urban hiking dream.

Hey folks.
This needs to be said.
Loudly.

Crawford's win in Wisconsin is a big deal.

Democracy beat bribery.

A Democrat won a heated electoral contest.

Public opinion was against Musk/DJT.

We are in the midst of a struggle, and it sure as hell isn't over.

Let your heart break for the lonely and the suffering, the hungry and the unhoused, for children lying dead in rubble, for the sorrow still to come. For the nameless. For yourself. For us all.

Let your heart shatter and remake itself in solidarity a thousand times a day. Let grief radicalize you.
The erasure of grief ensures that no one will challenge the oppressor.
It also dulls the humanity of the oppressor, so they will not pause to see the humanity of the people they are pillaging.

Keep your grief.
Your tears are yours.
