Making a mess or making magic?

A wip that's been a wip for too long. Finally painting my jambalaya food illustration

These Daiso watercolors from my recent Daiso haul look so aesthetic, but the question remains

How do they handle?

Ok, maybe I spend all year thinking about the Renaissance Festival. I just really like gentle fantasy and tiny people, and the Ren Faire allows me to indulge.

I only go to the Louisiana Renaissance Festival one time per season, but I look forward to it all year long.

I'm super excited to eat some delicious beignets at the #beignetfest this Saturday.

Unwound by recording a marker review

Ok, it may not be October or even Halloween, but I inked and stretched this piece in September and then October punched me in the face. Since watercolor paper spoils, I decided to go ahead and paint it, so that I could share it next year when it's timely.

A toast to art teachers who push back against the use of Gen AI, who teach basic drawing skills, who foster a love of all arts, who encourage students to do, even if it looks kinda bad RN

The rotations are all over the place but I got some paint on the paper today before and after teaching

A little update
November 5, 2025 at 6:03 PM
These were designed as fun coloring pages for yall to print on the paper of your choice- although if there's interest, I'd love to offer all 35 designs in a spiral bound coloring book with nicer paper at some point.

This project celebrates a variety of different art forms- from watercolor to baking to ceramics to costume design and is my little way of showing some love to fellow artists of all stripes!
November 4, 2025 at 10:41 PM
Just a heads up- if you're supporting my work on Patreon (patreon.com/nattosoup), I just shared all 35 Little Artist illustrations in a cleaned up and ready to print format!

My last Little Artist is busily writing ideas down for his sci-fi story.

That's it- that's 35 Little Artists! They've been scanned and cleaned up, and I need to share them on Patreon- along with a bonus 36th artist!
November 4, 2025 at 6:49 PM
I didn't have a chance to finish this in October, and watercolor paper can spoil, so I'm taking the time to finish this illustration.

Can my friends who love D&D and other imaginative tabletop games give me some tips on how to market my book, Lilliputian Living?

It's all about tiny people who live in the cracks of our world/ I think it would make an awesome handbook for folks looking to expand their campaigns

Hello November! I still have a couple Little Artists left, and the last is a video editor. She's based loosely on a favorite LP'er, but I seriously doubt the real deal edits on her phone. I, an art youtuber, DO edit on my phone- at least the initial edit, so there's some truth there.

I don't wanna crop it, but click it to see the adorable snoozing pet rat. Rat people, I made this card for us! Where are yall when I'm doing cons? 😭
November 2, 2025 at 11:51 PM
Actually the LA foods do sell as prints- at least, the ones where people can guess the brands. I finally sold a Rayne bullfrog to someone who loves frogs this weekend though, and that made me really happy
November 2, 2025 at 11:40 PM
Maybe next it'll be all pet rats and Lilliputians, idk. (Don't encourage me to do this, there are popular rat artists who do ok, and we both know I am not one of them. I have a rat Christmas card that literally no one has bought)
November 2, 2025 at 11:40 PM
I'm really good at making these longass rabbithole projects that have no market demand. Just finished Lilli Living forever, probably about 1/2 done w my Louisiana foods white whale.

The longer I am under employed and left to my own devices, the more niche I guess I'll get.
November 2, 2025 at 11:40 PM
I mention it because yesterday I got to see it on the wall of the Louisiana State Library and I know I should talk about Lilliputian Living more, outside of sharing the art and the worldbuilding.

I did research, and I studied cultural anthropology and I took notes, and I double-checked, and now these two things exist in the world, that wouldn't exist otherwise, because *I* exist and willed them into existence over eight 31 day Octobers.
