Plans to merge a nonreligious school into a Church of England school, with the latter's faith character retained, have been cancelled after a survey of parents found nearly 95% would have sent their child to another school if the merger went ahead.

New Ofsted figures reveal a third of independent faith schools it inspected did not meet standards this year. We know many such schools keep on failing because they put religious dogma ahead of children's needs. We can't keep turning a blind eye to this.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has responded to a Government consultation to strongly oppose the adoption of a proposed non-statutory definition of 'Islamophobia'.
