I was recognized by the hotel coffee shop worker who commented that she had not seen me on the past couple of weeks and was everything okay.

In fact yes! I made it a whole month without staying overnight!

My kids school just sent a message explicitly saying that if they show up the school is going on lockdown and they will not be allowed in. No walking field trips. Extra adults.

We keep us safe. 💛💙♥️

Laying on the floor, putting my face on the cold boards, elevating my legs, and focusing on my breathing to avoid a panic attack when the teen asked if I needed my rescue med.

No, I'm fine.

Had to literally speak aloud that clearly I was not and that I have a prescription for this exact thing

Yesterday I was in a room w/30 14-17yos planning a spring event.

They are still children. They havent reached their full heights yet. They still have cartoon characters on their clothes. They watch to see what everyone else is doing before acting.

Men preying on kids are sick.

Love reading discussion forums with questions asking how scientifically something would work and others pointing out it's a dystopian YA fantasy romance novel

Made another magnificent brunch spread and spent the day snacking on cheese and bread and fruit and danish and I need to win the powerball so this can be my life.

Wild times. At a cookie training and people talking about adults stealing cookie money. People are strange.

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

Humbling moment when I realized 1st and 3rd grade for my oldest were chalked up to 'she has a pushy mom but isnt that bright'

They were teaching a kid with anxiety whole word recognition

I'd been trying to pull back on the 'intimidating elementary school teachers' thing and just said fuck it.
Watching more people discover this infuriating fact and getting righteously furious about it is at least good reinforcement that we are correct to be righteously furious about it

The same year I read
Diary of a Plague Year
The Jungle
Native Son
Wuthering Heights
Jane Eyre
Les miserables
The quiet american

Then began hanging out with Trotskites
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"
