Sunday is the only day we buy coffees instead of making our own. Today we got them from Dunkin—to not cross the line at Starbucks.
It’s raining.
The power is out.
Now reading ‘The Bookshop’ by Penelope Fitzgerald.

It's in the singing of the street-corner choir, it's going home and getting warm by the fire
I find joy in Christmas music. Let people have their joy. If you don't agree, don't listen.

Skeletons for #Halloween, from the Nuremberg Chronicle (1493). About the least rare rare book in existence (we have 5 copies) but this one hand-coloured and part of a donation made in 1574 by Elizabeth I's Archbishop of Canterbury Matthew Parker. CUL Inc.0.A.7.2[888].

I hate gay Halloween what do you mean you’re an uncataloged book someone tried to rebind with duct tape

If you’re raptured tomorrow, can I have your books? Asking for a friend (who’s also not getting raptured). #BookSky 💙📚

Saw a "for lease" sign in a vacant shop window, thought it would be a perfect space for my books while renovating our house, and maybe some weekend appointment-only shopping. Was a partner at a mid-size law firm, which dissolved a few months later and allowed me to do both bookstore and law.
Bookstore owners/bookseller friends, tell me how your store came to be, please.

One of the best things about being an antiquarian bookseller is rediscovering items you had forgotten about tucked away in your not-yet-listed-for-sale closets. Today's finds are a signed Thomas Hardy first edition three-volume work, and a collection of 57 bookplates (some artist signed).

Make it a thing.
Ah yes, INDEPENDENCE Day Eve, where for many centuries people would shop at INDEPENDENT Bookstores in preparation for their big celebrations. What? You're saying that's not a thing? Huh, well, it's a thing if we make it a thing.

No, we're not calling it Alligator Alcatraz.

It's a Florida concentration camp.

Are people outside the U.S. seeing the concentration camp à la 'Alligator Alcatraz'?
