All correlations among value ratings are positive (Table 1). This highlights limitation of Likert scales: some people really like smashing the "Absolutely Essential" button. We thus have to transform data to meaningfully measure prioritization among values bsky.app/profile/nath...
Like much of my work, this is arguably a measurement paper in disguise (since measurement is "boring"). For me, the spark behind the paper stems from an argument I heard long ago that deep political disagreements are rooted less in holding different values and more in selecting values to prioritize.

Equity is the value with most varied responses. Self-identified liberals indicate higher importance for equity (no surprise) but also representation.
