But I'm coming around to the argument that you can't really separate out the social media dynamics from a lot of this stuff, even if that pains me as a historical materialist. The manosphere stuff in particular is so divorced from any kind of tangible reality - it's pure internet brain.

I don't live in the US anymore so don't have an answer to the 'is the economy bad or are the vibes bad?' arguments, but the sense that previous generations had it easy and were given houses as soon as they turned 18 is so pervasive and seems particularly toxic, whether left or right wing coded.

I liked the whole thing but the first half (ish) was my favorite part. The inn, the crossroads, the initial visit to the castle. All pretty perfect.
