Today years old when I learned the slack emoji ACK means “acknowledge” and not “ack omg that sucks”. Legit had to ask my admins why they kept “ack”ing me for little things. Time for blue plate specials and going to bed at 7pm. ACK

Letters went out to federal workers this morning stating they were fired due to poor performance. However, all employees had been rated as “exceptional” performers by their supervisors. Please keep these records and pursue wrongful termination claims. Let the lawsuits begin.

Old friend just laid off by USDA, 1 mos short of his probationary period as senior researcher. Brilliant person who left a tenured faculty position several yrs ago to join USDA. Bright early-career researchers also being laid off. USDA is terminating a generation of highly-qualified scientists.
