In these harrowing days of calculated overwhelm, our job is to resist consent manufacturing and calls to craven acquiescence, writes Kaveh Akbar.
At Least We Are Many: Resisting the Drums of War
Israel’s assaults on Iran are attacks from an actively genocidal nuclear state on an already oppressed people. We must oppose US involvement and calls for craven acquiescence.

WIMBLEDON WIN PROMOTION TO LEAGUE ONE 🥳

Proud, tenacious phoenix club—founded by the fans when a sulking owner took their team 60 miles down the road—return to the 3rd tier. One league above MK Dons 👋

Have a day, @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social 💙

I learned yesterday that @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social *paid* for a fact checker for his recent book Everything is Tuberculosis (read it). I appreciate it but *please* can publishers take the responsibility to make it standard to fact check their non-fiction titles that need fact checking!

New router has ad blocking capabilities. This seems like an absurd amount of adverts, mostly within one hour, to be happening.

Burnout isn’t inevitable, but in a world that refuses to accommodate us, it often feels like it is.

The solution isn’t just ‘"rest" - it’s structural change.

Autistic humans don’t burn out because we are autistic. We burn out because we are forced to exist in environments that don’t support us.

This is why I'm spending the day downloading all of the eBooks I've bought via Amazon over the past fourteen years of having a kindle. This is the thing that has driven me to finally break out of the kindle ecosystem. I'm switching to Boox.
hey for anyone who might want to actually own their kindle books instead of renting them, or who might be thinking of switching to kobo etc and will want to convert them to epubs, you now only have one week before amazon kills your ability to download its ebooks www.theverge.com/news/612898/...
Amazon’s killing a feature that let you download and backup Kindle books
It’s bad if you like to keep ebook backup copies.

I discovered that my Great Aunt has a Wikipedia page, which is lovely, and promptly wanted to tell my Grandmother (her sister). I think it's because I'm reading her son's memoirs at the moment that provoked that feeling. It was disappointing when I remembered I can't tell her.

I'd like to propose the bread-toast scale for how close you are to burnout.

Freshly baked - doing fine
Slightly stale
Lightly toasted
Well toasted
Slightly burnt toast
Burnt/charcoal - full burnout

Where are you rn? I'm slightly burnt and recognising I need a break.

Dying people should have access to excellent palliative care *and* greater choice over the end of their lives

It isn’t an either/or situation

I can’t put it better than this retired palliative care nurse in a letter to the Observer last year 👉 (do read it all 🙏) www.theguardian.com/theobserver/...
