Independent. Former pioneer litigation paralegal, author, teacher & practitioner in land brokerage and development. Creative in various media. Fan of primary-sourced info, Manfred-less baseball, Civil War.
When baseball didn't have Rob Manfred's stupid rule changes, like ghost runners at second, limitations on throw-overs, pitchers having to face 3 batters. When good pitchers got outs w/command & location, not throwing 100+ mph. When good hitters put the ball in play & didn't swing for the fences.

There are elements of this in works of the French Impressionists, but in those cases, the elements were *ancillary* and not the main thing. With the drip-fling-splatter style, the tail wagged the dog. With the Impressionists, the dog wagged the tail.

The early works of, e.g., Picasso and Klimt are also what I'd call representational and unlike their signature paintings. Perhaps early works are the natural extensions of their formal training.

If I were one of those judges, I'd be inclined to say something like: 'The shortage of attorneys at the DOJ is for the Executive branch to resolve. The court is not inclined to harm plaintiffs through delays on an ongoing basis under the circumstances.'

Good question. The thought occurred to me that the phones might be ringing in the corner offices of the managing partners of the capitulator firms to start running the clock on those 100's of $millions of pro bono hours.

Section 527 of the 2024 DHS budget bill could not be clearer: DHS may not use any funds to prevent a Member of Congress from entering an immigration detention facility for oversight.

Here is ICE quoting the DHS spokesperson saying Noem herself told ICE to deny Members entry without her sign-off.
ICE responded informing me and my staff about their new procedures - we informed them of the law.

I was just thinking something along these lines: he was born looking like a rat that's been cornered.

Sometimes people read just the headline or read the headline to determine if they want to read the report or article. Either way here, the implied message isn't accurate.
