Utagawa Kuniyoshi's "Self-portrait as a cat lover", mid 19th c, Japan, depicts the artist surrounded by cats.
Kuniyoshi was known for his love of felines, and his studio was reportedly filled with them; he placed them into many of his works, often as a form of satire to cleverly evade censorship

Tomorrow we embark on the last Op Nightingale fieldwork for 2025, back to the sacred lake of Llyn Cerrig Bach on Anglesey, last refuge of the druids. Will we find more of this incredible Celtic assemblage as we did in 2024? Watch this space….! #archaeology #celtic #anglesey #veterans #wellbeing

The Dentalux toothbrush shown here and found last week is from the cargo ship Wec Van Eyck, which lost a container of Lidl goods bound for Spain in Feb 22. Many years ago, a friend found 100s of unused toothbrushes washed up. He told us he had a lifetime's supply for his family.
