I'm struggling to come up with something substantive to say about this. I'm pretty speechless. Shell is targeting Gen Z with marketing via video game communities and popular twitch streamers.

This is what a motivated my entire life, research agenda, and career. How can you ignore the most important factor in human outcomes, especially economic outcomes?
Social scientists need to talk more abt power.

We who are obsessed w/ the psychology of human behavior must more frequently contend with the workings of power and status and hierarchy in our work.

Far too often, these concepts are absent from our theorizing, and that’s too bad. Let’s do better.

In one of Robert Bork’s papers there’s an offhand remark about “the uneconomic concept of power.” If power is an uneconomic concept, then economics is a worthless discipline that should be abandoned, nothing more than propaganda & ideology, not a social science. 📉📈

They Studied Dishonesty. Was Their Work a Lie?
Dan Ariely and Francesca Gino became famous for their research into why we bend the truth. Now they’ve both been accused of fabricating data.

Seriously! I have cried rivers of tears in my huge excel data compilation and analysis and these gimmick gurus not only can't be bothered to check their data but actively manipulate and fake it! Egregious!

This is some of the most evil shit. I'm not sure which point of view makes it worse. Rounding up a bunch of desperate migrants to display for one of the richest men alive like it's a fucking zoo or having to sit there while such a man is playing pretend cowboy in front of you.

Just listened to a podcast about the umpteenth paper claiming that “institutions drive development” and I have a question: what positive institutional changes happened in Kenya in 2006? Are we supposed to believe that the 2007-08 electoral violence was *good* for economic growth? #econsky 📈📉

With Heckman giving a speech at Victor Orban’s family values summit & Melissa Kearney being invited to the same Stanford seminar where Richard Hanania and Chris Brunet are guests, it’s blindingly obvious that elite academic economics will not put up any kind of resistance to a fascist takeover. 📈📉

Huge storm and flooding in NYC today. This is 4th Ave and Carroll St in Brooklyn, which is near Gowanus Canal, a superfund site.

Reminder: Do not go in the flood waters, it contains pathogens and is a threat to human health.

This is horrible and illustrates the disproportionate impacts climate change has on migrants. There is no climate justice without migrant justice.
Migrants Booted from NYC Shelter Into Pummeling Rain
At the Jefferson Street shelter, migrants were left to face the deluge while carrying what possessions they could, before the city eventually reversed course.
