A gift link is included in the thread. Recently in our local newspaper, someone was quoted as saying she was excited about a new Gilded Age (I was horrified). Like Molly, I love the show, but it's concerning that people think we are all going to live like this.

Happy Monday! I needed to read this today, so I'm guessing some of you might need it, too.

Good morning! Your life is a beautiful journey of ebbs and flows, halts and accelerations. You won’t be perfect & productive all the time and that’s perfectly okay. You’re human and it’s in those imperfections that you’ll find your greatest strengths. Be alive to every moment.

The comments on this post are hilarious. I keep trying to explain to people outside of the city that riding the subway isn't scary, but they don't believe me. Welcome to the "hellscape."
On the terrifying NY subway, watching a father smile and tickle his baby’s foot

In these crazy times, posts like these give me joy.

I love this so much.
People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.

They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.

Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

This is astounding to me. AI is definitely not ready for prime time, but here we are.
I think AI is going to eventually tank in the longterm, but...

the only real way to combat this is single-interest communities. Forums, user comms, etc, with a barrier to entry. They become trustable knowledgebases. It's really the only way forward is to return to what worked best the first time

A thoughtful, important post about war.
Five things to remember about war:

Amen.
On Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom and recommit ourselves to the work that remains undone. We remember that even in the darkest hours, there is cause to hope for tomorrow’s light.

Heartbreaking.
Breaking: The Trevor Project received a stop-work order last night on its contract with the national 988 suicide prevention hotline. The Trump administration is eliminating the option for LGBTQ callers to the hotline to press 3 and connect with someone who specializes in LGBTQ mental health.

I was not an Obama fan, but he exceeded my expectations and won me over. I miss his thoughtful demeanor, his intelligence, and wit.

I used to live in Houston, a blue dot in red Texas. No state is wholly red or blue ... remember that.
I'm a pretty nice person & generally calm. But I'm all out of patience for blue voters here on Bluesky who choose to throw snark and hate at other BLUE voters... because their NEIGHBORS voted for Trump.

We, as people left-of-Trump, either support each other or we suffer together.

Good night.

This. I am no longer reading or listening to commentary on Biden. The election is over, we have a 5-alarm fire to deal with, and we need to look ahead.
Any Democrat who spends time criticizing Biden instead of actively fighting against the self-inflicted crises of this administration needs to reconsider their priorities. I am concerned about people disappearing & rights the GOP is trying to strip away. Talk about that

Obama turned down a *book* to comply with ethics rules surrounding gifts.

Trump is accepting a jet.

That’s the difference.

Mother's Day is, personally, a difficult day for me. For anyone out there struggling today, I see you and send hugs.
Happy Mother’s Day. To moms, grandmas, those who’ve lost moms, moms who’ve lost children, dads who are also mom to their children, caregivers raising children #MothersDay

Chasten and I are relieved that Governor Shapiro and his family are safe. While we wait to learn more, this much is clear: the targeting of a public official and his family - especially a prominent Jewish official on a major Jewish holiday - is unconscionable and has no place in our country.
