✨✨✨ Game jams have always been a form of "practice" to me.
They give you the ability to scope down and avoid spending years on a single project.
The more you do a thing, the faster you get at it. And to me game jams help build that speed because your goal is proper completion.

Hot take, but I don't think game jams are very useful. At least for me.
Every time I work on a thing that isn't my game is time I'm not spending on my game. And it might steal my focus away and then I won't go back.
I need consistent daily focus on my thing for years.

What bugs me about the intentional devaluing of art by tech is that almost anyone can actually learn how to art. Like, it takes time, and failures abound, but the myth that some people just pop out of the womb with a can or can't stamped on their heads is a crock.
