To be clear, I am always soliciting (respectful) advice.
I'd call it a 'pleasant surprise' of a movie, some fun stuff in there and far better than the trailer implied, but I don't think the people are with me on that for some reason 🤷

Remember Kanye's spree of producing <30 minute albums for himself and others one year?

I sometimes get that sense of adventure, but it mostly comes in the form of a "famous but obscure genre" deep dive, like when I heard the name Juan Atkins too many times and tried out a bunch of ye olde techno albums via full-album-upload YouTube.

Oh definitely, if a band is old enough to get a sense of identity by osmosis, it gives them a huge advantage. Anyone who I know too little about, or is too new to have a known artistic target/ demo, is really in the lottery as to whether I'll like them at surface level or play it in the first place.

(If there's a case beyond notoriety for listening to an entirely forgotten album of an elderly man do mostly or entirely cover versions, including several songs he already had versions out in the '90s, by a man with a very small vocal range and likely recorded on a shoestring – do let me know 🤔)
