@48hills.bsky.social covers what most media won’t: Luries war on the poor.

“Former Sup. Dean Preston points out on Bluesky that the city’s policies on the unhoused these days are remarkably similar to an executive order issued by Donald Trump called “ending disorder on America’s streets.”
SF's plan for crime and unhoused people looks more and more like Trump's every day - 48 hills
Mayor's plans seem awfully similar to Trump executive orders

“Both Sherrill and Mayor Daniel Lurie, who each have strong support in the YIMBY community, blasted the proposal”

Mayor backs building luxury towers on Safeway lot to gentrify the Fillmore but not luxury towers on the Safeway lot in the Marina. What could possibly account for the difference?
Marina’s reaction to Safeway tower plans: ‘Along comes this behemoth right on the waterfront’
Plans to put a 25-story apartment complex on San Francisco’s Marina district sparked concerts about a future where the city’s waterfront is ringed by tall housing structures.

The enemy who starves and bombs the children of Palestine is the same who left my children to suffer poverty on the streets here in the US. It is by design that my children are unsheltered and yours murdered, all so we cannot reach out and grab hold of another, so we cannot win.

we already hold our water in common and have only to look to Flint MI for what happens if we dont, i have no idea why people think it's an impossibility to do the same with housing, it's a resource not a luxury after all.

developers are clearly making a profit from affordable housing initiatives or else they wouldn't invest in them at all. absurd not to corner a share of this for the public's benefit.

it's not socialism to fight for subsidization of the private market. it's not enough to make sure people can afford to pay rent, you need to make it so their need for shelter can't be exploited at all. why can't reasonable rents in public housing profit the PUBLIC?

homeless are the class in society that anyone can fall into at any moment. when trump attacks the homeless, he is attacking everyone at once, although you won't feel it right away but we are, all of us one circumstance away from being counted among the homeless

in dc they are experienced protesters and resisters and they will be fighting back but the militarized infrastructure is capable of limiting coms and accurate reporting there so its on us to be hyper vigilant, it happened in 2020 and will be worse now

in a just world we'd stop subsidizing the private rental market as "housing aid" with vouchers and build functional transparent housing to service vulnerable populations and essential workers, evenly disbursed in our cities.
August 15, 2025 at 3:20 AM
a housing program that doesn't have homeownership or some other kind of long term stability plan as its exit goal is merely a system of perpetual triage where ppl are patched up just enough to be tossed back into the rental market woodchipper as another exploitable body.
August 15, 2025 at 3:19 AM
Covid shutdowns should have taught us the importance of insulating our vulnerable populations and essential workers from the predatory rental market. the workers for reasons of economic stability and the vulnerable for reasons of our humanity. public funds for public homes.

homeless people are ALSO largely undocumented, papers are frequently lost during the initial becoming unhoused phase, losing a storage unit, having your stuff rained on or your camp cleared. The 2 largest groups trump is going for first are the most easily disappeared.
