Watching the “political violence has no place in America” language with interest.

I’m no historian, but our whole nation is founded on political violence. And has continued to be politically violent ever since.

Curious how “political violence” from a communication perspective shifts.

3 months ago, Melissa Hortman & her husband were killed in their home by a man who— *While In Disguise As A Cop In Order To Increase His Chances Of Success/Evading Capture*— stalked her *&* another state legislator. Today? Crickets.

Charlie Kirk's gonna get his face on a prayer flag in the Oval.
For everyone saying political violence has no place in this country…

Remember two Democratic legislators were shot in Minnesota just this year.

And America shrugged and moved on.

The 100 lowest-paying US corporations spent $644B on stock buybacks from 2019 to 2024.

Buybacks artificially boost share prices and inflate CEO pay.

The typical worker at these companies earned $35k last year.

Meanwhile, the average CEO was paid $17.2M

See the problem?

Princeton University scholar Judith Weisenfeld has long studied the role of religion and race in America — but it wasn’t until recently that she discovered their historical and troubling intersection with psychiatry.

Author Judith Weisenfeld unpacks historic links between religion, race and psychiatry
(RNS) — Psychiatrists in the late 19th century were ‘lending the authority of medicine to pathologize one of the central sources of community and connection and ability to survive,’ she said.

Caitlin Clark is gonna be in for a long night because she gotta deal with Arike Ogunbawale, and Paige Bueckers. The Fever aren’t going to be able to hide her on defense unless they put her on a big but Dallas’s Bigs move really well without the ball and that’s gonna isolate CC’s bad defensive play

The biggest lie people believe is that hardwork and determination will get you into the positions you desire. I’m here to tell you that is false no matter how many accolades, awards, degrees or recommendations you come with. That position has probably been promised to someone less qualified

So the Republican Party has historically blocked:

-Paid sick leave
-Paid family & medical leave
-Universal childcare
-Universal pre-K
-Expanded Child Tax Credit
-Programs to support reproductive health

And they're wondering why more people aren't having children?

A colleague at Stanford’s business school used The Stanford Daily to argue—poorly—against DEI. The piece was riddled with historical errors and left one searching for fact, so I broke my public writing hiatus to respond.

I hope you’ll read and share the piece.

What DEI threatens isn’t merit. It’s monopoly.
Political science professor Hakeem Jefferson argues for DEI's importance to de-monopolizing universities.
