Just learned espresso shots don’t die. Twas just a myth to make Starbucks baristas work faster.

Moving cross country has typically been one unexpected challenge after another (typically on emotional autopilot) but today I realized I can’t pack my flatbed scanner in my carry on and I’m so devo 😞

The trick to procrastination is keep adding a bunch of things you don’t want to do and eventually the first thing becomes the one you want to do

This is something I’m trying to avoid doing, because it really doesn’t help. It’s also one of the reasons grifters and clout chasers have been thriving. I get that it’s part of people processing and trying to make sense of things. I’ve done it in the past. It’s not a useful pattern of behavior.
The other problem with the media being so compromised is it leaves us trying to make sense of what’s happening by way of a bajillion panicked people on social media adding desperate theorycrafting and assumptions to every fact about what’s happening.

All billionaires are bad by virtue of existence but at least bill gates got into vaccine access versus whatever the heck musk and Zuckerberg do

The Spotify genre ai names are so bad! What’s a “permanent wave”? I’m convinced Spotify removing their human genre analysts is also why the radio and mixes have been terrible (no new music introduced in, just what you’ve listened to previously)

at the risk of being contentious the correct response to this is to bail on mainstream shit. I know everybody's addicted to lavish production and big celebrities but the reason Hollywood is going all-in on AI is they do not believe anybody will ever stop watching their shit, no matter what they do
The issue appears to be the existence of OpenSubtitles.org, and I fear a reaction which only acts as a further entrenching of copyright as an impediment to the public good.
Big Tech is training AI on thousands of TV/film scripts. I spoke to showrunners, IP and business affairs lawyers — as well as the programmer at The Atlantic who examined this data set — to find out what happens next

I think we should standardize sirens. Just heard one that sounded like a an impending doom cutscene in a horror movie and it was just a cop car catching some street violation.

I can’t get over this scene of the playing character crawling around under giants in a frozen dining scene in Fear & Hunger. It feels so much like what my dreams feel like.

Weren’t NYT the same company trying to sue chatgpt for plagiarism?
"The [New York] Times announced the 9-staffer reduction in the art production department as it ramps up the use of AI technology."

Handling/creating visuals for *news* purposes especially demands a *highly* skilled labor force. And AI is garbage technology for creation. Truly a misguided decision.
