Made a zine tonight about how to help feed people with food insecurity , and my art was terrible, but fortunately the event was Bad Art For Good so it kept with the theme. I like my little zine! Might make it look nicer and actually pass some out
Was going to make a poster tonight but this inspired me to try my hand at a zine

Let’s check in and see how those rascally solarpunk kids are doing, surely they’ve learned by now that…..

…ah.

Daily reminder:
Leafy greens like kales retain all those delicious heavy metals like lead and cadmium.

Don’t eat sidewalk-crack kale.

New paper on AM fungi in a prairie restoration experiment planted with community members back in 2021! Beyond the cool results we found, this was such a fun day where so many of my labmates and volunteers supported my first field experiment as a grad student. Feeling so grateful! ☺️

In my experience: Nobody asks about your qualifications for the COVID vaccine

CVS & Walgreens have a "Do you have a condition that puts you at high risk for severe outcomes from COVID-19 virus? Yes/No" button when signing up for a vax. In person when getting the shot, it wasn't even mentioned.

You’re never alone in the field! Caught some folks by surprise today: a couple swallowtails and an extremely annoyed cicada. Love to see our prairie plots being used as habitat 💚

Things you could do:
-NSJP has called for a day of action 3/11; hold a rally or protest.
-send senior faculty to meet with admin and demand guarantees they won’t coordinate with ICE or admin
-have all campus unions demand admin non-cooperation or compliance with Trump agenda
If you do not act to protest Columbia admin collaborating with ICE & Trump to illegally detain Mahmoud Khalil, you are consenting to your campus being next. You are giving a green light to your admin to hand over your students and colleagues. Enough is enough. ACT NOW.

It sure would be nice to see more effort focussed on resistance rather than compliance from our leaders. Calling on those in a position of power to show some courage.

Make them tell you, specifically, what you're not allowed to do. Don't make changes you guess that they want. Don't offer them a menu of things that you infer they might be telling you not to do. Do the work you proposed, and received funding to do, unless instructed otherwise in specific detail.

I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.

“Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.
White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion
The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.
